When home remedies and medications don’t show good results, then only should one go for surgery.

Hemorrhoids Surgery

Various types of methods are used in hemorrhoids surgery these days.

Coagulation: When the hemorrhoids are small in shape and size, this method is used. This surgery basically includes the burning procedure. Infra-red light or electric current are the means with which the hemorrhoids are burnt.

Hemorrhoidectomy: Patients suffering from either external or internal hemorrhoids undergo this surgery. During the surgery, laser or a scalpel is used to remove hemorrhoids. This method is more applicable in cases where the hemorrhoids are more itchy and painful. The difference between this surgery and coagulation is that this procedure might take a longer time to heal.
Another type of hemorrhoids surgery is when a doctor punctures the hemorrhoids to remove the blood clots in them. Local anesthesia is given to the patient while puncturing them. It is a type of surgery which is considered a major one, and is performed as an outpatient operation.

Rubber band ligation: This isn’t a surgery but a therapy meant for those suffering from internal hemorrhoids. Here, rubber bands are tied around the affected areas so that the hemorrhoids dried out. If there is more than one hemorrhoid, this process is applied to each hemorrhoid, one after the other. Occasionally, a medicine is used by the surgeon to shrink the hemorrhoids.

Sclerotherapy: In this method, an agent which is either foam or a liquid is injected into the varicose vein to seal the blood flow.

LASER: LASER surgery is rather quick, and takes much less time to be completed. The patient usually gets a discharge on the next day of the surgery. This surgery is performed by specialists, and therefore it may cost you a little more than other types of surgeries. The important factor here is the care to be taken after the surgery. Since it is a surgery, it is expected that the patient might suffer from pain and excessive bleeding for the next few days. But this should not worry you. The physician will take care of all these things, and soon you will get rid of your painful problem.

Remember to take a proper diet for your good health after the surgery. Follow the instructions given by your doctor, and ensure a healthy and comfortable lifestyle.
